Aul Women Football Academy (Kendrapara) emerged champions in the Sushree Nursing Cup All-India Women`s Football Tournament when they beat Rourkela Women`s Football Club 2-1 in final here at Pallishree Stadium, Sadeipali today. Arati Khedia and Pyari Yaya scored the two goals for the winners, while Gurubari Minz pulled one back for the losing finalists. Earlier in the second semifinal, the Rourkela team edged out Gumla (Jharkhand) 3-2 in penalty shoot out.
Sambalpur University Vice-Chancellor Prof Bishnu Prasad Barik handed over the trophy at the closing ceremony. Champions Aul Academy received a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and runners-up Rourkela club became richer by Rs 11,000. State Council for Technical Education and Training vice-chairman Sangram Keshri Mishra and SITE secretary Manoj Mishra were present on the occasion. Altogether eight teams from Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal have joined the tournament, which was organized by Sushree Institute of Technology and Engineering (SITE).
